As Heather Tewion takes the reins as captain of the ESA ladies team, she tells us a little of her background and her route to captaincy...
My shinty journey started only 5 years ago, picking up the sport at university (in Cornwall of all places!) and since then it has been an experience to never forget. I have represented Cambourne school of mines, Cornwall and England Ladies across the country in a number of matches and tournaments, including our recent victory in reaching the second round of the Marine Harvest Challenge Cup. I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to captain the England ladies team, hoping to continue the progress Joy Elliott-Bowman has made in making a name for ourselves amongst the Scots! With the progression of the team and an increase of new players I look forward to the challenge of gathering ladies from across the country.
